Sunshine and Icecream

Yes, it really is sunny here in Glasgow today! I’m enjoying sitting in a sunny window weaving away whilst listening to the radio, I am incredibly pleased that both Adam and Joe and Radcliffe and Maconie are now on the Big British Castle’s 6 Music.

I am currently using my new yarn to make new spring/summer scarves and I have taken icecream flavours as my reference for colour. As a child I remember eating Gino Ginelli Icecream and singing the song loudly, Gino oh Gino Ginelli… My favourite flavour was Mint Choc Chip but others included Tutti Fruiti, Toffee Fudge and Choc and Nut. Here’s the 1996 advert which bizarrely stars Alistair McGowan:

Another of my favourite icecream flavours is Neopolitan, the vanilla section was always left till last in our house. Sometimes we were lucky enough to get a block of Neopolitan icecream and wafers.

Below is a scarf I have just finished in Neopolitan colours (chocolate/strawberry/vanilla or brown/pink/cream) using a Gothic Cross pattern. Next I am planning on using Mint Choc Chip colours.

And the Winner is…

Liza Brown

Congratulations! Please send me your address and I’ll get it posted to you or your Mum. Here’s a picture of your scarf all ready to go:

A massive THANK YOU to all those who entered. My new yarn finally arrived yesterday so I’m planning on spending the next few weeks designing and making new items. Keep checking my shop and my facebook page for regular updates.

Mother’s Day GIVEAWAY

As promised I am giving you the chance to win this scarf, handwoven by me, in time for Mother’s day on April 3rd.

This scarf is made from a mix a cotton and shiny tencel giving it an incredibly soft feel. The scarf was designed with dark pinks on one side and greys on the other in order for them to overlap when worn. A perfect Mother’s day gift (or a cheeky gift for yourself!)

To enter you must:

That’s it. ‘Like’ the page, tag a photo. Got it?

The closing date is 30th March when the winner will be picked at random using the good old fashioned names in a hat method and announced by my Facebook page. The competition is open worldwide.

My Facebook page is here in case you missed all the other links to it. If you already ‘like’ my page, jump directly to the album here and get tagging. If you don’t use Facebook… where have you been?

See here for T&Cs and more details.

Good luck!

p.s. I am also taking regular Mother’s Day orders, so please order now to avoid disappointment. Contact me here!

Shop Updated

I’ve just added a few new items to my shop including this beautifully soft squared scarf and two herringbone scarves. Currently I am enjoying using a mix of cotton and tencel yarn to give an incredibly soft silky finish. I  just made an order for new yarn so expect new colours soon!

I have also just completed a commissioned scarf pictured below:

Sew Handy!

Back by popular demand I’ve just added this sewing kit to my shop. Look here!

The kit is made using my handwoven fabric and felt.  Inside it contains a pair of scissors, 3 safety pins, 3 needles, thread, needle threader and 3 pins. It is the perfect size for popping into a handbag or pocket – you’ll never lose a button again!

Happy Birthday to me!

Thanks to everyone who I have met this past week at craft fairs and to all of you who have bought something from me. It has made me a very happy sole and so I’m off to buy myself a birthday treat – THANK YOU!

My shop is looking a little bare so it is the perfect time to request items for me to make – even if you simply want to let me know what colours you think I should use.. Contact me here.

Just before I go here’s a photo of my stall at Merchant Square:

It’s Time to Get Shopping!

Yep the time has come to get shopping – there are only 15 days left till Christmas! But don’t fear there are plenty of lovely gifts to buy and here are some places to start:

Why not pop along to Welcome Home in Partick or their wonderful pop up shop at CCA. I was there the other day and trying hard not to buy things for myself (HINT HINT).

Or pop along to The Shop of Interest who have a new blog here!

Finally and most importantly (teehee) why not come along the the Merchant Square Market this weekend? I will be there selling all sorts of handmade woven things (see the photo above) and my talented pal Carolyn Alexander is also going to be there – even more gift opportunities! It’s open 11am till 6pm on Saturday and 12pm till 6pm on Sunday. Santa’s Grotto will also be there – so do come along!

New Scarves in Shop

I’ve just spent the morning updating my shop with more scarves perfect for both men and women. Please take a look!

Below is a photo of one of the scarves I have added:

This is a beautiful wide scarf/shawl in a range of blues and greens. It has a complex diamond pattern and uses shiny tencel in the weft which shows up the design wonderfully. It has been finished with hand knotted 9cm tassels.

Approx 26.5cm wide X 80cm long.

Made from cotton and tencel. Handwash. £40. Buy here!

Snow Ship

Here’s a photo of the beautiful Glenlee on the Clyde yesterday. Although the weather was very cold and a little snowy people did venture out to see me at the craft fair on board. Sadly today the craft fair was cancelled due to heavy snow. My next craft fair is in two weeks time – 11th/12th December at Merchant Square but in the meantime I will be putting lovely things on to my shop – keep checking here.

The Last of the Dahdees

I’ve just put up the last remaining “Dahdees” in existence on to my shop. I’m not planning on making any more so this is your last chance to buy them here! They are handknitted and beautifully finished with toy eyes and sturdy feet which allow them to stand, a handy Christmas gift for any age.
